Visiting Michigan

We spent July 8 -17 visiting Peter's family in Michigan! We were very glad to have the time--it was refreshing.

We all spent the first few days at Grandma and Grandpa Distelzweig's; Mary was up from Texas--yeah! Then we left Xavier with Grandma and Grandpa and took Mara with us to a cottage on a small lake for 6 days of extreme relaxation.

Xavier was eager to have his week of vacation with just Grandma and Grandpa (and his cousins).

Meanwhile, we enjoyed having one less to keep an eye on at the lake. While we were there Peter cooked meals;

We went for walks and brief swims (Mara, too), and enjoyed quiet evenings;

A couple of cooler evenings we made a small campfire at the water's edge.

One or two days we made brief day trips into Chelsea for coffee or ice cream and a change of scenery. And our neighbors one house down gave us a tour of the lake on their pontoon boat.

Before heading back to Pittsburgh, it was back to Ann Arbor where we enjoyed a birthday dinner for Peter; Steve and Laura, Jacob, Liam and Daniel were there--and to our surprise John and Tina, Schuyler and Franklin were in town from California!

We had a great time seeing all the family. What a vacation!
