Bunkbeds

On Sunday afternoon, Peter put together the bunk beds that we bought for the kids. We hadn't planned on putting them up or moving Xavier into them for a few months, but we told him what they were when Peter was painting them last weekend and he seemed excited and ready. So, we thought we'd just put them up. It required rearranging the room and moving a few things out, but I like how it looks. The bunk beds are on the wall where the crib used to be.

Xavier was very excited once they were put together, but he wouldn't get into the bed until bedtime. He has slept in the bottom bunk without issue these last two nights (though he didn't nap yesterday) and has made the transition well. Eventually we'll convert the toddler bed back to a crib and the baby will move into it (he/she will be in our room for the first few months in a bassinet) and by then Xavier will no longer think of having slept in it. Way down the road, Xavier will move up to the top bunk and the little one will move into the lower bunk, when he/she is ready for a regular bed.

Peter did a great job painting the beds and they are just the right size for the room, and not too tall, either. Amazing, since we didn't see them put together before we bought them!
