Before Christmas the kids made their own manger scene with Mara's baby doll, various stuffed animals, including a lobster (who knew!), and Xavier and Mara as Joseph and Mary:

We started the day cooking up a fancy big breakfast with bacon, because my kids don't like meat, but they sure do like bacon. The kids watched "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas" (a family favorite when I was growing up) with my parents while we got breakfast ready. Then on to the gifts!
Xavier and Mara gave each other gifts. Xavier picked this "double-bubble" hat for Mara and she loved it. Mara got Xavier a wooden vehicles painting kit. Xavier shouted, "Wooden vehicles! She got me wooden vehicles!" It goes without saying that he also loved his gift.
I found these little disc shooters and got one for each of us, including the adults. We spent half and hour shooting them around the house and laughing. We even set up a target.
Grandmom and Grandpop Rose gave gifts to the kids. Magnetic dress up dolls for Mara and a Hot Wheels racing track for Xavier. Oh, and a very pink and cute outfit for Mara, and a nice suit for Xavier (no picture).
We gave Mara a dress up bin with some things also from Grandmom:
We also gave them Steelers gear. Yeah, we love Pittsburgh:
We also gave Xavier his first set of Legos - space Legos. He really enjoyed building the sets. Peter helped him with the Space Shuttle, but the others he did himself.
Phew! What a Christmas! After all the gift opening and Lego building, we had a nice dinner together. It was a wonderful day.
